Umag enjoys good weather throughout most of the year.

FOOTBALL

As a coastal centre of the north western Istria, Umag has proved many times to be an excellent choice for football teams preparations, and is easily accessible to teams from at least a dozen countries.

Many sunny days, sports infrastructure which is constantly being invested into, targeted services for professional athletes, top-notch personnel and a cosy atmosphere make Umag a perfect choice for many clubs and national teams.

The Croatian Football Federation (HNS), a major national football organization, has been organizing camps for football players of all ages for years, and it regularly chooses north western Istria for qualifying matches in categories U15, U16, U17, U19, U21 as well as for women’s national team matches.

From a total of 19 football fields in the region, 9 of them have prescribed FIFA dimensions (100 × 64 m).

Pitches are situated in Umag, Novigrad and their hinterland, at a distance of up to a 10-minute drive away.

Fields are carefully maintained and fully equipped, providing excellent conditions for training.

CYCLING

Eddy Merckx, a world cycling legend and a five-time Tour de France winner, paid tribute to Istria by saying that the region is simply stunning.

A great importance of NW Istria as a cycling region is highlighted by Debertolis Massimo, an Italian professional cyclist in the category of mountain bike and a world champion in 2004 in the marathon category, boasts exceptional benefits of Istrian bike trails.

Previous experience, natural resources and the existing infrastructure show that the region meets the requirements of bike tourists, mountain bikers and road cyclists, regardless of whether they are looking for recreation, training or racing.

Mediterranean climate without long periods of cold weather allows cycling 10 months a year.

North western Istria has a network of 19 well attended and specially marked bike trails, 13 of these tracks are intended for road cycling.
